Did you Miss the Taste of the Harvest?
Last month, IIT continued its support of Local Food on Islesboro, with our first in-person
event since the Covid-19 outbreak: A Taste of the Harvest! Pairing up local farmers and
producers with Islesboro chefs, IIT provided 80 plates of locally-sourced, inventive
appetizers to the community. And within the first 48 hours of sign-ups, all 80 plates were
spoken for!
To ensure the safety of participants, Taste of the Harvest was held as a “curb-side pick-
up” type of event. Folks were assigned to one of four pick-up times and we held the event
outdoors at our newest preserve, Blueberry Hill. Since this type of event did not allow for
the face-to-face time we would have liked for our island growers to have, IIT compiled a
booklet for participants to take with them, giving all who provided for Taste of the Harvest
an opportunity to talk about their operation and the importance of local food in what they
do. In case you didn’t make it to the event yourself, we wanted to share this booklet with
you, our IIT Board of Trustees and Advisory Council. Click on the link below to view the
booklet and learn more about the farmers, growers and chefs right here on the island.
