Hunting

Hunting for waterfowl and whitetail deer is allowed at several of the IIT preserves by permission. Hunting is allowed at the Herbert/Mill Dam, Bachelor, Hutchins Island, Hutchins Marsh, and Blueberry Hill preserves, at the Heckel/Schrodinger property and at the Cregar Center (Saturdays only). One hunter, or group of hunters, may make a reservation to hunt a single preserve for up to a week at a time on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations open on June 15th for the upcoming season. Hunters must fill out the permission form (available below) and submit it to the office in person or email to: dtutor@islesboroislandstrust.org .
Please Note: IIT preserves are not State or Federal Public Lands. IIT is a non-profit land trust supported solely by donations from our members. We own and maintain the properties as part of our mission to enrich island life. This includes maintaining orchards, blueberry fields, native grasslands, fields, managing invasive species, and habitat restoration. Please consider becoming a member of IIT to support our on-going conservation efforts.
